| The objectives of this work were to analyze seeds from 20 trees of aroeira (Myracrodruon urundeuva Fr. All.) of a natural population located in the region of Selvíria, State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, in order to evaluate their protein, lipid and carbohydrate contents, and to estimate their genetic variation. A completely randomized experimental design consisting of 20 treatments (families) was set up, with two replications. Four types of proteins were detected: albumin (35.0 to 107.3 mg/g seed), globulin (3.4 to 9.3 mg/g), prolamin (60.0 to 135.2 mg/g) and glutelin (118.0 to 286.0 mg/g). | The present paper deals with estimation of variance components, prediction of breeding values and selection in a population of rubber tree [Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. ex Adr. de Juss.) Müell.-Arg.] from Rio Branco, State of Acre, Brazil. The REML/BLUP (restricted maximum likelihood/best linear unbiased prediction) procedure was applied. For this purpose, 37 rubber tree families were obtained and assessed in a randomized complete block design, with three unbalanced replications. | O objetivo deste trabalho foi estimar os ganhos genéticos de um teste de progênies de seringueira para a produção de borracha seca e, com base no maior tamanho efetivo populacional e maior ganho genético, obter os melhores indivíduos. Foram utilizadas 30 progênies de meios-irmãos, provenientes de sementes de polinização mista - alogamia e autogamia - de testes clonais no Estado de São Paulo. Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, com 30 tratamentos (progênies), 3 repetições e parcelas lineares de 10 plantas, em um espaçamento de 3x3 m, o que totalizou 900 plantas úteis. | The aims of this study were to investigate the mating system of a fragmented population of the dioecious tropical tree Myracrodruon urundeuva Allemão, using five microsatellite loci and the mixed mating and correlated mating models. The study was conducted in the Estação Ecológica de Paulo de Farias (436 ha), where the population occupies about 142 ha. The mating system was estimated using 514 open-pollinated offspring, collected from 30 seed-trees. Estimates of the multilocus outcrossing rate confirm that the species is dioecious (t m = 1.0). Low levels of mating among relatives were detected in the population (1 - t s = 0.020). | Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the genotype x environment (GxE) interaction in open-pollinated Eucalyptus saligna progenies for simultaneous selection for greater stability and adaptability for wood volume, as well as to compare the selection strategies through combined and individual analyses in three environments.
